  • How long are psychotherapy sessions?
The initial assessment psychotherapy session is 90 minutes. All subsequent ongoing psychotherapy sessions are 60 minutes. We also offer 30-minute check-in sessions.
  • What does the first session look like?
You will be provided an intake and consent form to fill out before the first session, which will assess certain areas of your life and allow you to express your presenting issues or interests before your first session. The first session is a 90-minute assessment session that allows us to explore and assess critical areas of your life. It provides direction, depth and meaning to the subsequent sessions since therapy becomes personalized to you.
  • Do I have to book a 15-minute free consultation session?
Yes. Consultation sessions are critical to determine your compatibility and preference for a therapist and their approach. During this time, the therapist will answer all your initial questions about therapy, their therapeutic approaches and potential next steps. There is absolutely no obligation to continue with therapy after the free consultation. We want to make sure you feel at ease going into the consultation session!
  • Are my sessions covered by my extended health insurance plan?
Psychotherapy services are covered by most extended health insurance plans, including college and university extended health plans. However, it's always important to check with your insurance plan provider. A detailed receipt will be issued after each psychotherapy session, which you can submit to your insurance company. Some of the insurance providers we work with are SunLife, Manulife, Canada Life, Blue Cross, Green Shield, Medavie, and more!
  • Do you offer sliding scale rates?
Yes! We offer sliding scale rates and a reduced-cost intern therapy program for individuals experiencing financial challenges. Please don't hesitate to reach out. If our practice is full, we can always find you someone that can help.
  • How can I pay for my therapy session?
You can easily pay through the secure Jane platform with your credit card. After each session, your credit card will be charged and you will automatically receive a receipt to your email. You can alternatively pay before the session using e-transfer if you do not have a credit card. You will receive a receipt automatically after the session.
  • Do you offer direct billing to insurance?
At this time, we do not offer direct billing. This means you have to submit your psychotherapy receipts to insurance yourself.
