How are sessions held?

All sessions will be held virtually on video or audio call on Jane*. You will receive a link to join the session 30-minutes before your scheduled appointment. You can easily join the session through your phone, tablet or computer.

*Jane is a trusted platform that many medical professionals use. Data is encrypted using 256 bit encryption (strongest encryption standard) when sent between your device and Jane servers.

What is an assessment session and why is it necessary?

The intake assessment form and session allow us to explore and assess critical areas of your life. It provides structure, depth and meaning to the subsequent sessions since therapy and coaching become personalized to you.

What are your specialties?

My specialties include couples therapy, relational problems, perfectionism, codependency and general anxiety. I have strong formal training and undergo ongoing clinical supervision with mental health professionals who are experts in these areas.

Besides my specialties, I can help with many other problems. Click here to read more about what I can help with.

What therapeutic approach do you use?

I primarily use emotionally focused therapy (EFT) for individuals, couples and families. EFT privileges emotions and explores what is important to you. Our emotions guide how we approach ourselves, our loved ones and others. Sometimes we use protective mechanisms (withdrawal, criticism, avoidance) to mask feeling those unsettling negative emotions, which can create rigorous negative cycles in our relationships. Instead of just trying to alter your behaviour or thoughts, we will explore the root of your concerns.

Who told you this? What happened (or didn't) in your life that made you believe it? Through new insight, we will work to create new emotional experiences to help you meet your emotional needs.

In couples and family therapy, this work extends to expressing our needs and responding to other(s) with growing acceptance, nonjudgment and flexibility. The EFT therapeutic approach for couples has been demonstrated by research to be the most effective couples therapy. Click here to read more!

Are my sessions covered by insurance?

I am covered by most extended health insurance plans including college and university health plans. Check your specific plan to find out more!

After our session, I will send you a detailed receipt that you can submit to your insurance company.

Do you offer sliding scale rates?

Yes! I offer sliding scale rates for individuals experiencing financial challenges and offer a reduced rate for high school and post-secondary students experiencing financial stress. Please don't hesitate to reach out. If my practice is full, I can always find you someone that can help.

How can I pay for my session?

You can easily pay through the secure Jane platform. After each session, your credit card will be charged and you will automatically receive a receipt through email.

You can alternatively pay before the session using e-transfer if you do not have a credit card. You will receive a receipt automatically after the session.
